We had the perfect fall temperatures over the weekend. The morning air was crisp and just cool enough that you needed a light jacket. It was also the perfect weekend to go apple picking! When Eckert's invited my family to their farm, I could not turn it down. My family has been going to Eckert's since I was a baby. My mom has a picture of me in the back of her baby carrier at Eckert's. Eckert's has a few locations, but over the weekend we went to the one located in Belleville, IL.
To beat the crowds, we got there EARLY. During peak season, this is especially a good idea. As soon as we got there, we took the tractor to the apple fields where we had a wide selection of apples to choose from. We love Jonathan apples, so we went straight to those apple trees.
After apple picking, we headed to the pumpkin patch. They had so MANY pumpkins. Some are already pre-cut which makes it easy. Of course, the one I wanted required me to pull it off the vine. The vine was sharp, which made it a little hard to pull the pumpkin off. I wish we had a pocket knife to help. My mom got two pumpkins and we got one.
